Beverley welcomes visitors with open arms…

...and is somewhere you’ll never tire of visiting, is a well-known fact, being recognised by more and more people each year.

The fact that Beverley welcomes visitors with open arms and is somewhere you’ll never tire of visiting, is a well-known fact, being recognised by more and more people each year.

It’s also something recognised by the region’s premier tourism awards, the REYTAs (Remarkable East Yorkshire Tourism Awards), organised by Visit Hull and East Yorkshire.

Now in their ninth year and regarded as the tourism “Oscars”, the REYTAs honour the brightest and best in this region's tourism industry and celebrate the enormous achievements of businesses across Hull and East Yorkshire.

For the 2018 awards, to be announced in March, a record number of Beverley area businesses have made it through to the final shortlist, including three Beverley cafes competing for the best cuppa award – Kavanaghs Cafe & Tea Rooms, T C Patisserie and Lempicka Cafe.

Beverley Racecourse and Bishop Burton College are among those shortlisted for the business tourism award while the Pig & Whistle in Sow Hill makes it through to the finals of two categories – best newcomer and best restaurant. Butt Farm Caravan & Campsite, Beverley, a winning newcomer last year, are finalists in the holiday park category.

White Rabbit Chocolatiers are finalists in the Remarkable Taste of East Yorkshire category, while the Beverley & East Riding Early Music Festival and Lambing Sunday at Bishop Burton College are finalists in the Remarkable Tourism Event for those attracting under 30,000 visitors. Beverley Food Festival is one of three shortlisted in the final for tourism events attracting more than 30,000 people.

Finally, Broadgate Farm Cottages at Walkington, The Swallow’s Nest, Brandesburton, Kingfisher Lakes Glamping, also at Brandesburton, and Corporation Farm Cottages at Tickton are finalists in the self-catering class.

The winners will be announced at a glittering awards ceremony on Thursday March 15 at Hull’s first four-star hotel, the DoubleTree by Hilton, which opened in Ferensway just before Christmas.
