The Westwood, with its landmark Black Mill, is home to the Beverley and East Riding Golf Club. Founded in 1889, it is arguably one of the oldest and finest, natural golf courses in Yorkshire. It boasts a unique mix of parkland, heathland and links with rolling fairways and magnificent views of the market town and its spectacular Minster. For sea anglers Beverley is a great base to explore the fabulous beach and boat fishing on the Holderness and Heritage coast. For freshwater fishermen there are rivers and ponds across the East Riding that offer some big challenges and equally big catches. The Beverley Leisure Complex has two pools, a health and fitness centre and gym as well as a large sports hall, multi sports area, skate park and tennis courts.
There are a number of town trails to follow. The Elwell Trail, called “Paint the Town” takes you round Beverley to view 22 replica paintings by Fred and Mary Elwell. The Beverley Town Trail depicts 39 medieval guilds and trades including carpenters, butchers and armourers. These trails are ideal for families and allow you to explore areas of Beverley you wouldn’t normally see.
